Creative Time With Friends!

With the kids back to school, three friends and I got together this week to create new Planners for the school year.  We had a great time, eating, talking and drinking mimosas and coffee.  Since making a planner tends to be a big project, we decided to allow two full days to work together.

On our first day, I decided to create a piece of fabric paper.  I talked about this process in a Fabric Paper Design post last December.  This is one of my favorite ways to "play" with design and color.  Here is a look at what the fabric paper turned out like:
The next step for me was to paint the front and back cover with black gesso, one of my favorites.  I decided to use glimmer mist on the front to give the cover a little sparkle.  I drew a tree on the back side of the fabric paper, cut it out and glued it to the front cover.  Using old Somerset Magazines (they tend to have the best fonts), I cut out the letters for the word Planner.

For the pages, I used the free printable weekly planner page templates available at Vertex42. I used these pages last year for my Planner and they worked great to keep track of all the millions of kid activities and all the jewelry To-dos.

For a final organizational tool, I sewed a pocket using Grunge paper from Tim Holtz.  I love the feel and the smell of this paper!  It smells like leather!

So here is the final result!  Let me know what you think about my new Planner.
I love the awesome metal key that my friend Allison gave me.  I am using it as a page marker, it sure beats the paper clips I used last year.

I did get a chance to finish up a few pieces of new jewelry; a pair of flip flop earrings, coffee cup earrings, a peace sign necklace and a few other surprises.  Look for the new pieces to appear on my Esty shop over the next few days.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and I will be back to blog on Monday about what will be happening next week at my studio. Stay tuned for a news of a New Store carrying Stacie Jewelry....
